The values that guide Silverton Health employees are captured in our creed, composed by one of our own nurses – Committed to Compassionate Care for our Communities. We seek people who share these values and who can put them into action.
We pride ourselves on taking care of our own, knowing that employees who are healthy and supported are better able to do their jobs and participate in community life.
Paid Time Off
Silverton Health removes the distinction between vacation, holiday and sick days. Employees may plan time off more effectively to meet both their needs and staffing for our patients.
Full-time employees earn 200 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) annually for the first five years of service. After five year, 10 year and 20 year anniversaries, an additional 40 hours can be earned.
Part-time Employees receive PTO on a prorated basis.
Extended Illness Bank
In the case of extended illness or injury recovery, full and part-time employees may use these hours after they have used 24 hours of PTO for an illness or injury or immediately if surgery is required. Full-time employees earn 48 hours of EIB annually. Part-time employees accrue EIB on a prorated basis.
Benefit Plan
Silverton Health's Benefit Plan offers eligible employees personal choice for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability and supplemental life insurance coverage. We also offer health and dependent care reimbursement accounts, which enable participants to use pretax dollars for qualified medical expenses.
Silverton Health wants to encourage wellness. Therefore, if you choose to maintain coverage outside of our medical plans, we offer waiver dollars as additional income to help cover those costs.
403B Retirement Plan
Silverton Health is partner in helping employees plan for secure retirement. Employees may begin contributing to our "Plan Your Future" 403(b) retirement savings plan immediately upon employment.
We participate by offering discretionary and employer matching contributions for eligible employees after two years of employment. The benefit starts at 2% of your qualifying wages and goes up to 5% if you’re making contributions on your own. This benefit increases with years of service and will max out at 8% after 15 years of employment.
Education Loan Program
If you want to further your education, we can help. Each approved applicant will receive a maximum of $3,000 per year for school with a cap of $12,000 total. This education loan program is offered to all employees who have been accepted into an accredited nursing, health care career or other hospital related program working at least 20 hours or more. The program can be a certification, licensure, or degree program. Employees become eligible and are encouraged to apply after six months of employment.
Take a Family Member to Lunch
We know family is the most important aspect of your life and therefore, we want to encourage their involvement with your employment within Silverton Health.
Once a month, bring a family member in and we will treat them to breakfast, lunch or dinner on the house. A maximum dollar amount is in place and a meal coupon can be picked up in the Human Resource Department.
Employee Assistance Program
We understand that difficult situations arise in which you or a family member may need additional help and/or support for financial and emotional purposes. Either way we have assistance for you. We offer the Employee Assistance Program free of charge for those circumstances.
A Healthy Work Environment
Silverton Health facilities and grounds are all tobacco free. We are committed to creating a healthy, healing environment for our employees, patients and visitors. Silverton Hospital serves as a model in the communities we serve in the area of promoting a healthy lifestyle among our employees and influencing public attitudes about tobacco use. We are committed to maintaining a healthy work environment for you.
Activities Committee for Employees
The purpose of the ACE committee is to promote better understanding and cooperation among our employees. It provides a means of recreation and entertainment for members and sets aside funds for gifts and remembrances in support of our employees.
In addition to the above, we have some special benefits worth mentioning including employee appreciation barbeques, bereavement leave, direct deposit, flu shots, group membership discounts at local fitness clubs, jury duty, mileage reimbursement (for those who qualify), free massage and the ability to purchase materials from our Pharmacy and Materials Management departments at reduced rates. Please contact the Human Resource department to inquire about any of these and other benefits.
