Babies and Breastfeeding Information, Education & Support (B.A.B.I.E.S) Childbirth Education
Childbirth classes at Silverton Hospital are a great source of information for new parents, as well as a good brush-up for those who already have children. Classes are held at Silverton Hospital on the second floor of the Family Birth Center.
The cost for the weekend series or the six-week class is $70 which includes Childbirth Preparation and Breastfeeding & Baby Basics. It is recommended that you register at least 12–16 weeks before your due date.
Childbirth Preparation
Childbirth Preparation classes are packed with important information to make pregnancy, labor and the first weeks with baby go smoothly. Classes include relaxation techniques and other coping tools that you’ll utilize in labor. Comfort options including pain medication and epidural anesthesia are also discussed. A tour of the Family Birth Center is included. You will be familiar with your surroundings when your time comes.
Breastfeeding & Baby Basics
Breastfeeding is the most healthy choice for you and your baby. Our B.A.B.I.E.S. Lactation Services provide information on the physiology of milk production, positioning techniques, Dad’s involvement and keys to successful breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding Support Group
Any mother who is breastfeeding is welcome to come. Come as you are to a relaxed atmosphere where we discuss the joys and challenges of breastfeeding and motherhood.
