Babies and Breastfeeding Information, Education & Support (B.A.B.I.E.S.) Lactation Services

You are beginning one of the most exciting times in the life of a family. As you prepare for childbirth you will also be making important decisions regarding your baby's care and health. Choosing to breastfeed is a great start. You will probably have questions about getting started. We are here to help you plan for a successful breastfeeding experience.

About Our Staff
The B.A.B.I.E.S. Clinics are staffed by Silverton Hospital Obstetric nurses with special training in lactation. These nurses have been trained in post-graduate courses which specifically prepare them to assist in all routine and special-need breastfeeding situations. In addition to this extensive training, each consultant has accumulated experience in this highly specialized field of nursing.

Services provided include:

• One-on-one, free consultations for the first four weeks after your baby is born
• Phone support for questions that may not require an appointment
• Back-to-work planning
• Direct communication with your healthcare provider regarding your consultation and any concerns that may require their attention

A Team Approach
B.A.B.I.E.S. services are offered in cooperation with your healthcare provider. Our staff serves as consultants to you while your care remains under the direct supervision of your own provider. We believe that a team approach will provide the best possible care for your family.

Retail Store
The B.A.B.I.E.S. store at Silverton Hospital Family Birth Center offers a wide variety of supplies and equipment that can be purchased for your infant feeding needs. The store is open Monday–Friday from 9am–5pm.

We currently stock:

• Nursing Bras and Pads
• Electric and Manual Pumps
• Car Adapters
• Nursing Pillow
• Infant Carry Wraps

Breastfeeding Support Group
Any mother who is breastfeeding is welcome to come. Come as you are to a relaxed atmosphere where we discuss the joys and challenges of breastfeeding and motherhood.
