A Healthy Heartbeat is Music to Our Ears

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Program

Your outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program can begin soon after your cardiac event or hospitalization, upon the advice and referral of your physician. You will work with a team of specialists, including a physician, registered nurse, exercise physiologist, registered dietitian, group support specialist and stress management facilitator to personalize a recovery and wellness plan.

Medical Evaluation
Initial and ongoing evaluation helps your care team assess your physical abilities, risk factors, health history and medical limitations and keep track of your progress.

Physical Activity
You will improve your cardiovascular fitness through walking, cycling, or even jogging and other endurance activities. You’ll be taught proper exercise techniques, such as warming up and stretching.

Lifestyle Education
Guidance regarding nutrition helps you learn to make healthier food choices aimed at reducing fat, sodium and cholesterol intake.

Stress Management
Learn active stress management techniques such as deep breathing, extended relaxation and meditation to incorporate into your daily life.

Support
Connecting with your care team, as well as others on a similar path, will help you adjust to your new lifestyle.

When your initial cardiac rehabilitation program ends, you’ll have learned tools and techniques to continue good diet and exercise habits for the rest of your life.
