Silverton Health Joins Legacy Health Family
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is happening?
Silverton Health has affiliated with Legacy Health effective June 1, 2016. The partnership was approved by the Oregon Attorney General earlier this spring. Silverton Health is excited to be part of a larger health system which stretches from Vancouver, Wash., to the north to the Mid-Willamette Valley to the south. Legacy Health now includes seven medical centers including the renamed Legacy Silverton Medical Center. The system employees over 12,000 people. The two organizations share similar values and a long history in their respective communities.
How does Silverton benefit?
In additional to joining with a similar organization with similar values, Legacy has pledged to invest $60 million into ongoing and growing programs and services for Silverton.
The proposed affiliation benefits both organizations by finding shared ways to improve the health of our communities while reducing the cost of care. Because of its larger size, Legacy expects to be able to provide new technology and support which was cost prohibitive to Silverton in the past.
How does Legacy benefit?
Legacy now adds a seventh facility to our organization, as well as several primary care and specialty clinics, and we are excited to grow to serve the Mid-Willamette Valley market south of Portland.
Both organizations share many of the same values about caring for their patients and serving their communities which makes this alignment a perfect match.
Will my doctor be the same?
Yes, though Silverton Hospital will now be known as Legacy Silverton Medical Center and your doctor's clinic name may change, your doctor or other health care provider will remain the same. You'll get the same service, in the same locations with the same great care.
Will other staff change?
There will be no immediate operational changes or elimination of positions. Over time, there may be some opportunities to streamline duplication, but that won't occur in the near future.
Will my insurance cover my visits as they did before?
Legacy will continue to work with insurance companies to handle covered expenses. If you have specific questions about your insurance, your insurance company is the best resource to find out about your benefits and coverage.
Will there be job openings?
Legacy has seen unprecedented growth in the last few years. We are always looking for qualified candidates. Please check Legacy’s Careers website for the latest openings. For job listings with Silverton, please visit their Careers website.
